Commercial Manager

To strengthen our pragmatic sales team, we are looking for a commercial manager who is interested in joining a fast-growing and innovative company that is sustainable by nature with a team that is dedicated to making an impact.

We understand shipping and the need for new, simple, sustainable solutions that make commercial and financial sense. Since 2017, our technology has been helping shipowners and operators to achieve valuable emission reductions and financial savings.

You will be based in the Netherlands and focus on the European region as part of our global commercial team; our offices are located in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Athens and Singapore. At Value Maritime, we have short communication lines and this role reports to the Commercial Director.

Ready to make the world more sustainable?

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Constantly seek new business opportunities, build trust.
  • Account management of existing clients, keeping our customers happy.
  • Actively sell the complete Value Maritime portfolio using a consultative approach.
  • Develop leads within the best shipping companies in Europe and convert them into orders.
  • Being the first point of contact for both existing and potential customers.
  • Managing sales numbers – nailing your targets.
  • Staying ahead of the trends – what’s playing in the market & spotting those opportunities.
  • Providing prompt commercial follow-up to enquiries.
  • Keeping our CRM system updated & using the data to strengthen our sales process.
  • Ensuring that any contracts concluded meet the general terms & conditions with an acceptable operational risk to Value Maritime.
  • Establishing firm long-term relationships, which allow in-depth conversation and foster customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate:

  • In your career, you can look back on around 4-8 successful years of sales experience.
  • Experience in maritime industry and/or a technical background is a plus
  • You have the ability to work independently with initiative, but you also enjoy a spirited team environment and are happy to contribute to and share in the team’s successes.
  • As your clients will mainly be English speaking, we need you to fluently speak and write in English. Dutch or German would be a plus, but not required.
  • You have experience dealing with the different layers and levels of the client’s business and know when and how to approach everyone from the CFO to the technical manager.
  • And last, but not least, you see yourself in Value Maritime’s core values (Simplicity, Passion for Sustainability, Accountability, Succeed Together & Innovation).
