Value Maritime

Value Maritime is an innovation-driven company offering the Filtree System, a plug-and-play solution that integrates energy-efficient scrubber technology at a competitive price, along with onboard CO₂ capture capabilities. By transferring energy-intensive processes like stripping and liquefaction to shore, our approach reduces costs and environmental impact, enabling ship operators to achieve cleaner, more sustainable operations with tailored financial support.

The Value Group, composed of Value Maritime and Value Carbon, is an end-to-end EGCS+CCUS equipment and services provider. In this context, Value Maritime serves as the manufacturer of EGCS technology and Carbon Capture modules, while Value Carbon acts as the service provider, focusing on the land-side of the value chain, identifying optimal locations for offloading the CO₂ captured onboard by Value Maritime’s system and managing this CO₂ until its final use or destination.

Within shipping there is the need to arrive at a sustainable solution, which in particular in freight traffic reduces air pollution and reduces acidification and pollution of seawater. This fact with the expertise of Value Maritime prompted us to consider how we could make an important contribution to the common goal of making shipping as sustainable as possible. This has resulted in the development of the Filtree System.

Shipowners who aim for optimal financial returns and want to contribute to a better environment, opt for Value Maritime’s unique technology. To make sure you make the best choice, our specialists will guide you through the entire process. We give advice on the best system for your situation, supply all the necessary material, engineering and install everything professionally. We are also there for you after installation, with our maintenance & service program and continuous remote monitoring & control.

Technical

The Filtree system is designed to enhance environmental sustainability in maritime operations. By mixing seawater with engine exhaust gas, the system effectively neutralizes sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions resulting from the combustion of sulphur-containing fuels. Moreover, the Filtree system goes beyond mere emissions reduction. It incorporates advanced filtration mechanisms to remove ultra-fine particles from the exhaust gas, further improving air quality and minimizing environmental impact.

Additionally, the system can be enhanced with a CO2 capture module, demonstrating its versatility and commitment to carbon footprint reduction. The captured CO2 is stored in a solvent within the battery or holding tank, ready to be offloaded when saturated, and utilized in industries where CO2 serves as a valuable product.

The standard Filtree System is suitable for engine sizes between 3.0 and 15.0 MW.

Yes, the system is compact due to its new technology and also suitable for smaller ships. Ship types such as coasters, container feeders, small tankers, handy size bulkers.

No, the Filtree System is designed to clean its filters automatically and the residue is stored in the sludge tanks on board the vessel to be processed in an environmentally friendly way on land.

High sulfur fuel is a by-product of the refining process and will last for a long time. The producers will provide a path to the market in order to make the product profitable.

The Filtree System addresses the need for sustainable solutions in shipping by reducing air pollution, seawater acidification, and ultra-fine particulate emissions. Combined with our Onboard Carbon Capture system, it also prepares vessels for stricter future regulations.

The Filtree System is a plug-and-play concept and consists of standard modules and materials. This means a quick installation and few modifications to the ship. The modules can later be exchanged and installed on other ships, making it suitable for older ships as well.

Yes, we collaborate with you to provide flexible solutions tailored to your specific needs, including the option to supply our EGCS and CCS as individual components, without a pre-commissioned tower.

The CO₂ Capture module, integrated with the Filtree System, captures CO₂ from exhaust gases. It stores the captured CO₂ under ambient pressure and temperature in a dedicated onboard tank or in our CO₂ Batteries for later processing onshore.

The CO2 capture capacity of our system is project and vessel-specific, influenced by factors such as vessel type, size, engine, trading routes, cargo type, and fuel consumption. We work with you to identify the optimal solution for your vessel. Our company’s size and innovative culture enable us to be flexible and collaborative, working with you to achieve your sustainability goals in the most effective way possible.

The remote monitoring & control system ensures that any problems or upgrades can be solved remotely. In addition, performance can be measured on land and shared with other parties, such as ports, customers, financiers, etc.

The Filtree System has been successfully installed on coasters, container feeders, and tankers (Handy, MR, LR1). Recently, it has also been adopted by bulk carriers.

When requested from our clients, Value Maritime takes care of engineering, material delivery and installation of the Filtree System on board your ship.

The delivery time in combination with installation preparation is approximately 7 months after signing the agreement.

Due to the plug & play concept of the Filtree and our experience, the maximum off-hire time of the ship is minimal and is around 10-14 days.

In addition to offering extensive support and parts sales, Value Maritime Services provides the option to enter into a maintenance and service contract. This contract includes remote assistance, annual servicing, and consumable parts. By proactively addressing maintenance needs, this contract minimises downtime and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

Environmental

The filter system reduces sulfur, CO₂ and ultra-fine particulate matter. The water filter filters the used seawater from soot particles and oil residues.

Fine particulate matter (fine dust) are small particles that are released into the air after fuel has been burned. Inhaling these particles is very harmful to your health. Ships that use low sulfur fuel do not filter particulate matter.

All particulate matter that is released is therefore released through the chimney. Ultra-fine particulate matter travels very far before it comes down.

As a result, particulate matter emitted by a ship far out to sea can ultimately still be inhaled by us and cause damage to health in the long term. Particulate matter can even travel so far that it comes down the polar caps and negatively affects the melting of these important ice bodies. With 99% filtering of particulate matter through our Filtree System, you prevent this and contribute to combating climate change.

The soot particles and oil residues that are captured are stored in the sludge tanks on the ship. This sludge is delivered to land for processing in the usual environmental friendly way.

Using post-combustion chemical absorption technology, our system captures CO₂ from treated exhaust gases, stores it onboard, and transfers it for processing onshore, minimizing onboard energy use.

The Filtree system captures ultra-fine particulate matter (99% reduction) and is based on another more compact technology. In addition, the water filter filters the used seawater from soot particles and oil residues. Finally, the washing water used in the Filtree system is not acidic, but PH Neutral.

The Filtree System does not rely on chemicals that dissolve metal residues in the exhaust stream, avoiding contamination of the wash water. It captures 99% of ultra-fine particulate matter and employs a more compact technology. The system also filters soot particles and oil residues from the used seawater, ensuring that the wash water remains pH neutral rather than acidic. Additionally, the Filtree System provides the capability to capture CO₂, setting it apart from traditional scrubber systems.

Financial

The Filtree System allows for the use of cost-effective high-sulfur fuel (HSFO) while meeting emissions regulations. Future revenue opportunities will arise from the system’s onboard CO₂ capture capabilities.

There are three options for purchasing a Filtree system:

– Buy

– Lease

– Fuel Saving Agreement (FSA)

Leasing offers lower upfront costs, with Value Maritime financing most of the equity. Clients pay a monthly lease fee at a competitive interest rate.

Leasing involves fixed monthly payments, while an FSA links payments to a percentage of the fuel savings generated.

That is the ownership of the system. When you buy you own the system and do not have any lease. You also have no up front costs with a fuel saving agreement.
